Claude Review: Long-context writing and document analysis
Claude earns its keep the moment your work involves big files. We fed it contracts, transcripts, and research PDFs, and it held the thread better than anything else we tried.
Claude earned its place on our dock the week we asked it to reconcile three overlapping service contracts. Every other assistant we tried lost a clause somewhere; Claude quoted the conflicting sections back with page references and a plain-English explanation of the conflict.
That long-document reliability is the core of the product. We regularly feed it meeting transcripts, research PDFs, and long email threads, and it holds details that other models blur. The Projects feature makes this sticky: upload your background documents once, and every chat in that project starts with the right context. For anyone whose work is document-heavy — legal, research, finance, consulting — this workflow alone justifies the subscription.
Claude is also the strongest pure writer among the assistants we use. Its drafting has a measured, human cadence that needs the least editing of anything we tested, and the Artifacts feature (live-editable documents and simple apps alongside the chat) turns it into a genuine workspace rather than a text faucet.
The limits are real. Message caps can bite on a heavy afternoon, and when they do, you wait. The integration ecosystem is smaller than ChatGPT's — fewer third-party plugins and connectors — and image handling is competent rather than best-in-class.
Pricing: a usable free tier, Pro at roughly $20 a month, and team plans above that with collaboration features. Check Anthropic's pricing page for current limits and features; they move often.
If your day starts with reading and ends with writing, Claude is the assistant to pay for.
The verdict
Buy it if your work is documents, writing, or analysis where accuracy and tone matter more than ecosystem breadth. Skip it if you live in voice mode and app integrations — ChatGPT covers that better.

Claude is the assistant you go to when the document is 200 pages and the deadline is tomorrow. Its writing reads like a careful human edited it, and it can chew through long PDFs, transcripts, and research without losing the thread.
